Three decades later, Kirk Minihane began investigating Jennifer’s disappearance.

After reconstructing that night in 1989, Minihane's investigation led him to a small town in South Carolina where he made a chilling discovery: One of the last people seen with Jennifer the night she disappeared had built a new life in Walhalla, where there is currently a person of interest in at least one active missing persons case.

Following Minihane's interviews with local law enforcement, South Carolina law enforcement publicly disclosed for the first time that four missing persons cases might be linked. Is there a serial killer in Walhalla, SC? Did it all begin in Brockton, MA?

Episode Eight: Hiding

In the Season One finale of The Case, the Oconee County Sheriff's Office shares with Kirk Minihane information that might be the key to understanding a web of death and deceit in Walhalla, South Carolina. What began as an investigation into the disappearance of 17-year-old Jennifer Fay in Brockton 30 years ago concludes as a sweeping investigation into several people who have died mysteriously or are currently missing. The thread that ties these tragic cases together is Kevin W. Maler, a former resident of Jennifer's Brockton neighborhood and a person of interest in her disappearance. Law enforcement also believe Maler may have been involved in the disappearance of Faith Roach in 2019. Maler has an upcoming court date for drug and firearms charges on May 26, but he is currently on the lam, hiding from law enforcement. (Listen)

In 2010, Kevin W. Maler was interrogated for more than two hours.
